iAN8K Multimedia Network Edge
UTStarcom revolutionized basic communications by launching the industry’s first IPDSLA M platform in 2001. Over time, UTStarcom transitioned the IPDSLAM into its third-generation, field-proven MSAN platform known as the iAN8K Multimedia Network Edge product family. UTStarcom’s iAN8K MSAN portfolio offers the benefit of converged access with an integrated TDM migration, POTS termination, DSL, Media Gateway and GEPON access on the same platform.
The iAN8K MSAN offers flexibility to seamlessly migrate from a legacy TDM based network to the IP network without the need to maintain redundant infrastructure. It can support legacy TDM voice and leased lines, next generation VoIP and circuit emulation as well as IP based broadband data applications from the same platform, enabling service providers to gradually evolve the network and deploy applications in a phased approach or as per their market requirements.

The iAN8K MSAN, as UTStarcom’s third generation platform, has incorporated the features and functionalities from the widely deployed AN-2000™ B820 IP DSLAM as well as AN-2000 and iAN-8000 multi-service platforms preceding it. Extensive reuse of successful high quality software and feature sets has ensured rapid product maturity and the carrier-class functionality expected from a central office (CO) based offering.
UTStarcom’s iAN8K MSAN can provide a simple, modular path for scaling services from High Speed Internet Access to the more sophisticated bundled IPTV and “Triple Play” applications. Some examples of the applications supported by the iAN8K MSAN include VoIP, BRAS functionality and the provision of “Triple Play” services via the access and core network enabled by the MSAN.
