Softswitch/Call Server

UTStarcom’s mSwitch® NGN system includes IP Telephony solutions for next generation voice and data networks. As part of the mSwitch NGN system, the Softswitch/Call Server, also known as the CS-P, provides the call control for the entire NGN network. UTStarcom designed the softswitch to provide common control for the Broadband and IPTV networks to ensure optimal investment protection and a truly converged service offering.

Technical

The Call server functionality within UTStarcom’s mSwitch NGN system is performed by the Call Server Pro (CS-P). The CS-P can be deployed as a VoBB call server to connect SIP, MGCP or H.248 endpoints. It can also be deployed as a Class 5 PSTN Emulation call server that supports MGCP or H.248 MSAN devices. The CS-P has also been designed to function as a Class 4 NGN call server that manages the H.248 based Trunking Gateway as well as SIP/SIP-I/SIP-T based VoIP traffic.

The CS-P enables:
  • Connectivity across Multiple Domains

When used in conjunction with UTStarcom’s Trunk Gateway and Signaling Gateway, the CS-P provides call routing and enables connectivity across multiple network domains: PSTN, PLMN, SS7, PHS, third party VoIP and others. Furthermore, the CS-P provides Fixed Mobile Convergence functionality in conjunction with the mSwitch SLR.

  • Rich Set of Supplementary Features

UTStarcom’s mSwitch NGN system’s set of supplementary features enables service providers to deliver the latest revenue generating features and a suite of subscriber focused services to their customers.

Additionally, the CS-P delivers a high capacity switching platform that can scale up to millions of subscribers. UTStarcom’s IP infrastructure can help maximize the service provider’s return on investment by providing highly profitable next generation services while protecting existing investments.
