ATM Migration

The UTStarcom iAN8K B1000 MSAN product enables service providers to seamlessly and cost-effectively migrate their asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) infrastructure to IP-based networks. ATM networks cannot enable interactive and personalized services that consumers today demand and expect. The migration to IP ensures service providers can provide rich and enhanced media while minimizing the cost of the network transition. In the transition, UTStarcom solutions ensure that the migration remains transparent to the end users.

In recent years, the telecommunications industry has been transitioning from traditional circuit and TDM-based networks to Broadband and IP-based next-generation networks. UTStarcom has helped to lead this transition with IP-based next-generation voice and data network deployments in a host of emerging and established markets globally. Since then, UTStarcom has established itself as one of the market leaders for the emerging MSAN market which provides the value of integrated access.

UTStarcom’s iAN8K B1000 MSAN ATM service module provides interconnectivity between ATM and IP networks. The product supports a variety of ATM network interfaces, such as E1/T1 IMA or STM-1/OC-3 to uplink ATM switch in pre-dominantly ATM networks or to support ATM downlink interfaces to subtend ATM DSLAM in pre-dominantly IP network. The IP uplink provides the option and smooth migration path to move the traffic gradually and seamlessly to IP traffic.
