- Identify PCMS benefits, architecture, configurations, applications, and features
- Identify hardware/software installation and system test requirements, install standalone application, and login/create a new administrator profile
- Set class-of-service (COS) parameters and permissions to meet specified requirements; create a subscriber profile and setup a mailbox for the user with a telephone user interface (TUI); use the TUI to add a PSTN phone entry to subscribers address book
- Configure parameters such as company, division, send user groups (SUGs), auto attendant (AA), and message on demand (MOD) features, pager template, time zones, distribution lists, VPIM (Voice Protocol for Internet Mail), and SMDI (Simple Message Delivery Interface) to meet specified requirements
- Generate, verify, and interpret subscriber and administrator reports; alter report generation schedules; and use system configuration buttons to add and/or change system parameter settings, or gather information as prescribed
- Access and interpret system status information used to perform limited troubleshooting

Target audience for this course includes field and system engineers, administrators and provisionary personnel responsible for supporting and/or selling unified messaging systems such as the 8250 PCMS.

| Before attending this course, students should be familiar with common features and functions of personal communication or unified communications systems. General knowledge of the desktop operating system and UNIX® command lines is also helpful. |
