  • Identify interfaces and interactions of the iCS-P with the different network elements used within the mSwitch solution.
  • Define differences between compact and distributed iCS-P configurations.
  • Identify applications for different functional modules available for an iCS-P.
  • Configure the iCS-P for initial operation as a local office.
  • Configure the iCS-P to network with other elements in the telephony network for data interconnection purposes.
  • Configure the iCS-P for call routing and number processing purposes.
  • Identify different categories of services enabled with the iCS-P.
  • Perform status and control operations on the iCS-P using the NMS.

Course Prerequisites

  • Attended the “UTStarcom® mSwitch 5.6 Hardware Installation and Initial Configuration” course.
  • Prior work experience or knowledge of data networking and telecommunications.
  • Solid understanding of PSTN switches, signaling protocols (SS7), the TCP/IP protocol and IP addressing.

  • How to configure an mSwitch iCS-P (IP-based Call Server-Professional) from beginning to end such that the mSwitch is able to route calls as a Class 4 switch inter-networking with other PSTN or SIP based switches.
