Personal Access System (PAS™) Core Network
UTStarcom’s PAS™ core network provides call control, interconnection to the PSTN, mobility functions, data connectivity and overall network operations and back end support. The core network of the PAS network is differentiated from the IP based Personal Access System (iPAS) network in that the PAS network integrates into the existing Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) via the V5.2, or GR303 industry standard Integrated Digital Loop Carrier interfaces.
Technical
Designed to complement the existing PSTN services and network infrastructure, the PAS wireless access network delivers the following advantages:
- Simple, rapid deployment
Bypass the time-consuming process of installing a copper infrastructure; services can be instantly deployed to meet operator and subscriber requirements
- New revenue-generating services
Offer a whole new set of wireless services such as citywide mobility, text messaging, email, location-based services, mobile Internet access at speeds up to 64Kb/s, and instant information such as news and stock quotes
- Unlimited scalability
Employ a microcell technology that supports traffic densities up to 15,000 subscribers per square kilometer and is economical to deploy for any city serving from 10,000 to 500,000 subscribers
