Cell Station Controller
UTStarcom’s Personal Access System (PAS™) and IP-based Personal Access System (iPAS) systems use the same Radio Frequency (RF) Access, otherwise also known as Radio Access, elements. Cell Stations (CS)s and Cell Station Controllers (CSC)s are used to provide service via the Personal Handyphone System (PHS) industry standard common air interface.
The CSC provides control functions to manage the CS in the network and provides a concentration point for many CSs in a given area.
Technical
The CSC connects to the CS using Integrated Services Digital Network - Basic Rate Interface (ISDN-BRI) over standard copper loops and connects to the PAS Wireless Remote Terminal (WRT) or iPAS Gateway over T1 or E1 digital carrier using any available media, copper, fiber or microwave radio. The CSC supports all UTStarcom CS types including CS-S7 Adaptive and Compact Array.
