IP-based Personal Access System (iPAS) Gateway
The iPAS gateway performs the media and call signaling conversion between the Personal Handyphone System (PHS) wireless and Next Generation Digital Loop Carrier (NGDLC) V5.2-based Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) networks, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) networks and the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). The iPAS gateway, while ensuring a seamless migration to a next-generation voice network, provides a high-capacity and carrier-class platform for VoIP services.
Technical
Each iPAS gateway provides support for up to 7,680 voice channels in a 14U chassis. The iPAS gateway supports mobile users and provides roaming and hand-off call processing. The iPAS gateway is a feature-rich platform and supports various international standard voice coding protocols including G.711, G.723 and G.729a.
